About Me

I am a clinical social worker specializing in individual psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. I maintain a private practice in Spartanburg, SC.

I first experienced therapy as a client during my childhood and adolescence. I was amazed by the healing power of combining a skilled therapist and a strong therapeutic relationship. The experience changed the way I thought about myself and my life. It started a process of healing and self-growth that continues to this day.

When I started Clemson University, I thought I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. During my freshman year, I took my first psychology course and knew I had found my calling. I changed my major to Psychology the beginning of my sophomore year and graduated with a BA in Psychology three years later.

After college, I took 2 years off of school, working in a variety of human service agencies. A year after I graduated, I became the sexual assault victim advocate for Safe Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition. I loved my job but realized I wanted to do more than support and advocate for my clients, I wanted to help them heal on a deeper level. I had to go back to school to achieve that goal, so enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at the University of South Carolina.

After graduating from USC with my MSW, I began working as a therapist for Spartanburg Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission. I had never done addiction work before and found it to be a rewarding experience. In fact, I still maintain my certification in addiction. While I worked at SADAC, I worked with a clinical supervisior toward my independent licence. This experience was richly rewarding and an incredible learning opportunity.

I left SADAC to pursue private practice. When I left SADAC I opened an office at Turning Leaves Therapy. I maintained an office there for 13 years. During that time, I invested a tremendous amount of energy on deepening my skills and obtaining the richest, most promising training I could find. I have sought skills and techniques that would enable me to help people in the most effective and profound ways. In 2012 my journey culminated in the realization that I needed more space to be the healer I want to be. This led to opening my new office at 736 East Main Street, which gives me ample room for traditional, play, and energy therapy. I have gathered quite a powerful tool box in my quest and as it continues, I hold onto the belief that started it all: Healing power comes from the combination of a skilled therapist and a strong therapeutic relationship.
